Skins

In 2015, the project called Skins emerged, which refers to the process of skin change that some animals face as part of their evolution. Here we present a series of works as a sample of fragments of different types of skin that our own body has been leaving over time, while experiencing its own transformation. Some pieces refer to detached skins and others to skins constructed as methods of self-defense or survival within said process.

The pieces are made with handmade vegetable paper and woven of vegetal fibers, this organic condition although resistant of materials, feeds the sensation of perishable, ephemeral and deadly, as is the effect of time on the skin. This has confronted us with the idea of the finite in the existence of the body, therefore of ourselves.
